The education activities of the centre
has existed since 1967. Today the institute provides graduate and
Ph.D. studies in the following fields:
- Political Sciences
- Sociology
- Management of human resources, departments
of Personnel Management and Business Management (in cooperation
with MSM - Maastricht, The Netherlands)
- Communication
Two new branches of the graduate studies
in Political Science are being established:
(a) Applied Politics and
Political Management,
(b) National Security
as well as a Project Management branch of the graduate studies in
Management.
Besides organizing graduate studies,
the institute organizes defense of doctoral dissertation from the
same areas. During its thirty-five years of existence eighty doctoral
dissertations have been defended, one hundred and ten MA works and
60 specialization ones. Ninety graduate students are enroled at
the moment.
That which should be stressed in relation
to the educational activities of the institute is its effort to
always keep the studies up to date in accordance to the changes
in each of the science areas, as well as to satisfy the needs of
the users, as a rule, through partnership with renown universities.
At the same time, the institute tries to involve in its work domestic
and foreign institutions and individuals to suit the needs of the
studies, and it is open for productive cooperation within the frames
of the University and outside it.
The policy of the house is to
try to ensure full compatibility of its own programs, in terms of
the subjects, quality and approach, with those recognized and valued
in the global academic community.
The following achievements of the institute
can be underlined as especially valuable in the fields of scientific
research and education: The institute has realized over 170 scientific
research projects (some of them being of capital importance), 160
of which have been published as individual titles (studies, monographs,
collections) concerning and addressing most current social issues
and problems in all fields. So far in 110 candidates have obtained
MA degrees, 80 have obtained Ph.D. degrees and 60 have successfully
defended their specialization works from all the areas: Sociology,
Political Science, Management.
